Source: Russian govt may extend anti-Turkish sanctions Dec 21-27
MOSCOW, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- The Russian government may approve a ruling to extend special economic measures against Turkey in the week from December 21 through December 27, a source at the Economic Development Ministry told reporters Friday.
“We forecast the approval of this ruling next week, though political consultations show that it may be delayed thanks to political consultations,” the source said, adding that the ruling may come in force until the end of 2015 if it is signed next week.
Relations between the two countries worsened after Turkey downed a Russian Su-24 jet in November. In response, Russia introduced economic restrictions against Turkey, including abolishment of a visa-free regime and a ban on some food imports.
A spokesman for the Russian government told PRIME on Wednesday that the government is preparing new restrictions in the economic relations with Turkey.
